Marisa’s post got me thinking about Peruvian food, and why there isn’t any in Austin. So, I googled it, and it turns out there is Peruvian food in Austin! And they have ceviche! And lomo saltado! And it’s located at….the Highland Mall? What? Do I trust mall ceviche? I don’t think so. Do I want Peruvian ceviche enough to risk mall ceviche? Probably.

Mmmm, this makes me want some papa a la huancaina

Speaking of those friends (the tall guy and the other girl in the pic), one year ago I was hanging with them in Brussels, and we came across a Peruvian store. They were closed, but once Maka (a native Peruvian) told them we really needed some Inca Kola, they opened up and let us buy some. That stuff is like the Peruvian lifeblood; they knew they couldn’t deprive a fellow countrywoman of it.
