I'm from Port St. Lucie, FL, and went to school @ UF in Gainesville, FL. Now I live in Austin, TX.
Here's some stuff I wrote when I went to India

I spent most of last night listening to Theresa Andersson’s new cd and cleaning, and then I remembered this song that she does at her live shows, but that’s not on any of her albums. Theresa’s one of those artists whose live show leaves you feeling high no matter how many times you’ve seen her. A youtube video doesn’t quite match that experience, but this performance is still pretty mesmerizing. I think I’ve watched this video six times in the past 12 hours.
And everybody should purchase it. Here’s what the NYT has to say about her:
Theresa Andersson is the New Orleans manifestation of the impulse that also drives loop-loving songwriters like Tune-Yards, Imogen Heap and Laurie Anderson. A Swedish songwriter who has lived in New Orleans for nearly 20 years, Ms. Andersson meshes her voice, violin, guitar, keyboards and percussion into whirligigs of harmony and syncopation. She shares her adopted hometown’s fondness for horn sections and strutting rhythms, but she still hasn’t left behind Scandinavian pensiveness and angularity. Her new album, “Street Parade” (Basin Street) isn’t the exercise in New Orleans boosterism its title might suggest. It’s full of post-Mardi Gras introspection: “Glitter raining down, baubles scattered round, tomorrow it all turns to trash,” she sings in the title track. Carnival propulsion gets the unforeseen company of doubt and anxiety, until Ms. Andersson lets it lift her toward affirmation.
K’naan - Waiting is a Drug
Okay, this song makes me want to gouge my eyes out less.
I posted a link to stream Harper Blynn’s new album last week, but now you can download it for free on their website. It is good. The friend who recommended them to me described them as a mix of Paul Simon, Guster, and Peter Gabriel, and I think that’s pretty accurate.
I don’t have Spotify on my work computer, so I haven’t been participating in the new feature hullabaloo, but my friend just shared this link with me. He strongly urged me to catch one of their SXSW sets, and I took him up on his suggestion. All SX sets are unfortunately short, but even with just a glimpse their live show, I knew I liked this band. Their original songs are fluid and melodic, and then they covered Beyonce’s “Halo.” Good stuff, check ‘em out.
Frasier’s arcane theme song has finally been decoded! Good news for anyone who’s been tortured by its inscrutability since 1993.
They’re calling again….

I only got to see Fun. play a super short set at SXSW, but it was one of my favorites. I hope Nate and the boys come back soon!
There were a few others, but I either can’t remember them or track down their names.
