I know that feeling during a match!
I'm from Port St. Lucie, FL, and went to school @ UF in Gainesville, FL. Now I live in Austin, TX.
Here's some stuff I wrote when I went to India

Love it.
Sweeeeeet. It would be awesome to slide around on this court (if it’s clay)!
Despite the loss today (and others recently), I don’t think anything like this will be written about another player any time soon.

Conundrum of the Week:
Why Does America Suck At Tennis?Take away the Williams sisters, and it’s a barren desert, especially on the mens’ side. GQ’s Daniel Riley spoke with the three most recent American male superstars—John McEnroe, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi—what the hell is going on. Below, a sample of McEnroe’s response. Read the rest here.
John McEnroe: We haven’t done a very good job with this all-or-nothing approach to training young people. I think it can be detrimental to a lot of kids, where they sorta live and breath it too young. In many cases, American kids are burned out early. I benefitted from living quote-unquote a pretty normal life and playing other sports and not focusing on tennis entirely at such a young age. These are the type of things I think we need to be doing more of in the States.
That headline’s a little bit of hyperbole, but you gotta love McEnroe! —Wright

Grantland || June 23, 2011
All of this. Except I enjoyed Bad Teacher, whatever.
I read this on the Grantland site over the weekend and really enjoyed it, though I still haven’t seen Bad Teacher. I also love how much Grantland has been covering tennis.
I wasn’t able to get Davis Cup tix (bummer, but probably best for my bank account), but there are some events open to the public this week leading up to the matches this weekend. Nadal pulled out, so there won’t be a Roddick/Rafa showdown, but it still would have been fun. The Spaniards are always fun to watch and will be tough to beat (hopefully the courts at the Erwin Center will be nice and fast), and the US has a pretty strong team with Roddick, Mardy Fish and the Bryan Bros.
Watching all this tennis makes me miss actually playing…
The only time I miss having a TV is during live sporting events (and really just for Grand Slam tennis matches and baseball games). The Wimbledon final is streaming on nbc.com, but their feed is soooo shitty.
I guess I could go to the sports bar down the street from my apartment, but socializing/looking presentable at 9am on a Sunday morning? Come on.
I know, #firstworldproblems.
Let’s go Djokovic!
Cool! A few weeks ago, the Austria vs. France Davis Cup match was held in a hangar at the Vienna International Airport. I wonder if all the planes coming and going were distracting.
In other news, this afternoon the USTA is probably going to announce that Austin will host the USA vs. Spain match in July. Anyone want to go see Rafa & Roddick with me?
Serena Williams.
Classy! She was justified on that foot fault call though. It was nowhere close. But, after her outburst she deserved the point penalty. Just sucks that it came on match point.
